Hi,

Will the next version of TOAD be certified with Windows 8?

I realise the current version is not certified but has anyone been using it successfully or aware of any problems?

Many thanks,

Kevin

I think the real question is "has anybody successfully used Windows 8?"

Also, have you noticed that when you abbreviate it, it becomes W8 (WAIT). Just some random thoughts.

I'll let QA answer the certification question.

John Pocknell should provide the definitive answer. But it's my understanding (since I created the VM's for QA) that our last release was tested to install and work on Windows 8 and Server 2012. So compatible, tolerant, etc.

BUT - and this is a huge BUT - there is no Oracle client (SQL Net) version that supports Windows 8 or Server 2012, so even though our products might work - Oracle's products are not certified. And Oracle has said sometime mid 2013 before we see those.

Since the Oracle client is prereq for Toad - users cannot expect a totally complete support picture until Oracle steps up to the plate .....

Bert

Make sure to read my reply - while toad may be certified Oracle client is not. So there may still be problems - but those will be oracle problems and not toad ones. Oracle has said new clients with Windows 8 and Server 2012 compat should come out mid 2013 ....

Hi all,

Lots of good information there, thanks for the responses.

Guess my next stop is the OTN forums… ;)
